Plum study on the future of licence-exempt spectrum in Europe

UK Spectrum Policy Forum commissioned a study from Plum Consulting to assess the current and future use of frequency bands which may be used by licence-exempt wireless applications. Its main purpose was to identify any actions that may be necessary to maintain the economic value of these bands and to ensure equitable co-existence between new and existing licence-exempt technologies and applications.   The report put forward three key recommendations: to promote further international harmonisation of licence-exempt bands, to maximise the availability of spectrum for wireless access and to adopt tighter technical requirements to facilitate co-existence.
